LESHCHENKO & PARTNERS attorneys joined the discussion of key issues of fighting corruption within the framework of the III Anti-Corruption Forum organized by the Ukrainian Advocates Association (UAA).
Rodion Dostatnij, attorney at law of Leshchenko & Partners, spoke at Session II “Pre-trial investigation in anti-corruption proceedings”. He shared his practical experience in defending cases involving corruption in the defense sector. Among the highlights of the presentation:
- peculiarities of proof in wartime cases,
- typical schemes and challenges in collecting evidence,
- influence of media and public opinion on the course of investigation.
Bogdan Koval, attorney at law at Leshchenko & Partners, spoke at Session III “Court proceedings in corruption cases”, presenting an analytical review of the HACC’s case law over the past year. Key points:
- trends of acquittals,
- competition of norms between Articles 191 and 364 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine,
- judicial protection of whistleblowers,
- difficulties in qualifying and proving corpus delicti.
