Andrii Leshchenko, Partner and Attorney at LESHCHENKO & PARTNERS, delivered a lecture titled “The Right to a Fair Trial in Criminal Proceedings” for cadets of the Faculty for Training Specialists for Pre-Trial Investigation Bodies of the National Police of Ukraine at Odesa State University of Internal Affairs.
The lecture took place on May 26 as part of a class on judicial review conducted by Iryna Hloviuk, Professor of the Department of Criminal Procedure and Criminalistics and Doctor of Law.
During the lecture, Andrii Leshchenko discussed practical aspects of implementing the right to a fair trial in criminal proceedings, the specifics of appellate and cassation review, as well as the application of European Court of Human Rights standards in Ukrainian legal practice.
Special attention was paid to practical ECHR cases, procedural safeguards in criminal proceedings, and the role of judicial control in protecting human rights.
Andrii Leshchenko is also a member of the Committee on Constitutional Justice and Human Rights of the Odesa Regional Bar Council, Head of the Odesa Branch of the Ukrainian Bar Association, and has substantial practical experience in handling cases before the European Court of Human Rights.
